'casapiena microcentro' era la casa di Pietro Librizzi e Giovanna Librizzi, i nonni paterni di Pietro, Laura e Bianca Librizzi nipoti, un edificio acquistato ed ampliato con i sacrifici della piccola imprenditoria dell'automobile e del lavoro di maestra elementare. Un edificio pieno di terrazze per non sfavorire i fratelli vicini rubandogli il panorama, semi isolato, in una stradina appena fuori l'arteria principale del centro storico.
casapiena microcentro is an artist-run space founded by Pietro Librizzi in 2017, fostering work in response to the cultural heritage of the Madonie Park, Sicily and its surrounding towns.
casapiena microcentro was created on Pietro Librizzi’s initiative as a hub for the dissemination and produc- tion of research with an output in contemporary art. The area where casapiena operates, the Madonie Park, is extremely rich of nature, architecture and anthropology. In the realisation of projects, an intimate bond is built with the place, so that the culminating event of a residency is felt as a pleasant community moment. The work of casapiena also aims to provide a space for local initiatives not embraced by institutions, consti- tuting a point of reference for the area.
In the residency format, people invited spend time in low season to gather information and weave relation- ships, eventually producing an event that can be enjoyed by the wider local population. casapiena’s projects aims to consolidate endangered cultural elements through the materialisation of oral knowledge, the use, recovery and reinvention of disappearing crafts and the reformatting of materials from changed eras and desires. The entire exhibition mission demands flexibility from residents for the cultural difference between the centre and the periphery, without sacrificing personal ethics but demanding awareness towards the transmission of knowledge. casapiena also benefits from an expanding library, an exhibition space and a technical park for projections and small concerts.
